☌ Conjunction

Sun conjunction Jupiter

Confidence as a character trait rather than an achievement. The classical reading is generosity, optimism and good fortune; the classical warning is that nothing teaches restraint, so the scale of everything tends to run ahead of the substance.

What these two are about together

Identity and expansion. How much room you believe you are entitled to take up, and what happens when that belief meets the world.

What a conjunction does

A conjunction is the tightest relationship in a chart: two planets sitting at effectively the same point in the zodiac, rising, setting and moving together. The tradition does not read it as good or bad on its own. It reads it as fusion. Whatever the two planets each govern stops being two separate concerns and starts being one, and it is often the placement a person is least able to see in themselves, because there is no distance from which to look at it.

How it reads

Confidence as a character trait rather than an achievement. The classical reading is generosity, optimism and good fortune; the classical warning is that nothing teaches restraint, so the scale of everything tends to run ahead of the substance.

In practice

Strongest of the five, and the most dependent on which two bodies are involved. A conjunction of two comfortable planets is usually experienced as a natural talent; a conjunction of two difficult ones is usually experienced as a single unavoidable subject that keeps coming round.

What to watch for

The absence of separation. Whatever these two do, they do at once, which makes it hard to tell which of the two is driving.

The two planets

Sun: Identity, vitality and what you are becoming

Jupiter: Meaning, growth and the risk of too much

A reading like this only tells you what the pairing is associated with. Whether Sun and Jupiter actually make this angle in your chart depends on your birth date, time and place.
