What is my sign?
Your Sun sign is one placement out of about forty. These twenty calculators answer one question each, from your birth date, time and place, computed from the Swiss Ephemeris rather than looked up in a table.

The two that set the terms
Jupiter and Saturn move slowly enough to be shared with an age group and quickly enough to still be yours. The tradition reads them as a pair: where it is easy and where it is not.
The three you share with your generation
Uranus, Neptune and Pluto take between seven and twenty one years to cross a sign. Everybody your age has the same one, so these describe a cohort rather than a person, and the dates are given so you can see that for yourself.

The lunar nodes
Two ends of one axis, always exactly opposite. The tradition reads the South Node as what is already easy and the North Node as the direction that is not.

Chiron, Lilith, the Part of Fortune and the four main asteroids. Later additions to the tradition, all of them, and read as specific rather than central.

Why the birth time matters more for some
It comes down to speed. The Sun takes a month to cross a sign, so a date is almost always enough. The Moon takes two and a half days, which is fast enough that a date alone can leave the answer genuinely ambiguous. The rising sign changes every two hours, so it cannot be calculated at all without a time, and any site that offers you one anyway is guessing.
Where no time is given, these calculators assume midday and say so on the result rather than quietly presenting a coin toss as an answer.
